REDMAN PROFILE

This is the Fourth in what will be an on going series where you will find out just a little more about your fellow Red      Man Runners. Don't relax too much while you read it because next month it could be YOU!

     Ian.O (Mocha) talks to redmanrunners.com

(A lot of Red Man Runners know Ian as "Mocha". The name came about because of Ian's wish to run like a Kenyan or Ethiopian      middle distance runner. That seemed a little unlikely so we gave him a nick-name, "MOCHA" that we thought may at least lead      someone to mistake him for one)

I was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and moved to Brisbane in the "Expo" year, 1988. Finished high school and did an IT degree      and got a job in IT with a Qld Government department upon graduating. My initial introduction to running came after being "talked      into" entering the Bridge to Brisbane fun run back in 2001 by one of the local legends, Lew Williams. He and Kathy who both      worked in the same department as me. I remember in those early days not even being able to run around the block without      stopping for a rest. This would have only been about a km or so, so you can imagine me thinking "what have I gotten myself      into????!!!" as the fun run was 11.5km back then ;-0 To my surprise however, I managed to run the whole way (albeit not very      quickly) and had so much fun that it didn't take much convincing from Lew & Kathy for me to come down and try one of the      In- Training sessions at West End and that's where I started getting hooked on running and how I eventually came to be a Redman      Runner.

     Liz.D talks to redmanrunners.com

Liz.D; "Oh this is horrible"!    "But here are my answers".

I was born in Sussex, England and moved to the Gold Coast when I was 15. Finished off school and moved to Rockhampton to      train as a nurse. First proper job was in a Renal Unit in Launceston then moved to South Africa for a year to work voluntarily in a      couple of kwa Zulu clinics. After which I moved to London to study in my preferred area of health - infectious and tropical      diseases. Trained up and moved to Brazil for three years to work on a Leprosy programme in the Amazon region. Moved back to      the UK and ended up in Oxford. Worked for OXFAM and nursed for a bit before deciding I needed something different. So I      moved to Edinburgh for a year to do a Masters in Public Health and then changed jobs completely and started working for an      online medical library. An opportunity to work in Brisbane popped up four years ago, so I took it.

I came to be a Red Man Runner after joining Intraining, introduced to me by my sister.

     The Gold Coast Marathon.

     PROUDEST SPORTING MOMENT ?

     Finishing the Gold Coast Marathon.

     Shoe brand: Brookes Adrenaline

FAVOURITE AFL / NRL CLUB ?

     The Lions of course.

     WORST RACE ?

I hardly ever enter races, so nothing to add here.

     NEXT GOAL ?

Get a six pack before summer really kicks in.

     WHY DO YOU RUN ?

Because I'm really grumpy if I don't run!
