                                                          TEXT DESCRIPTION OF LONG-RUN COURSE                              

 

         21 Kms                 -     Brekky Crk, Roma St, Countess St,                                                                                                         William Jolly Bridge.           

            

        Leave RedMan in a North Easterly direction underneath the Captain Cook Bridge. Run along the river paths underneath the         Kangaroo Point cliffs. Continue past the Thornton St Fairy stop all the way to Captain Bourke Prk. Turn right along Holman St         and then take the first right into Main St which will have you going Sth past the Story Bridge Hotel. At the Southern end of the         Story Bridge turn left and run up onto the left hand footpath across the bridge. At the Northern end turn hard left as soon as the         railing ends and look for the steps leading to the path which will take you under the bridge and up onto the path beside Bowen         Tce heading east. A small park and the river are now to your right. Take the first right hand turn into Moray St and follow it for         approx 600mts before turning right into Dodwell Ln then left into Maxwell St followed by first right into Merthyr Rd         immediately left into Griffith St first right into Sydney St. Run straight onto the path at the end of the road and veer left for a         lovely run along the river.                                              

 

         Immediately after the Merthyr Bowls club the path swings left. Follow it out onto Oxlade Drv where you turn right and run          along to New Farm Park. Taps and toilets are available to your right. (Toilet by Ferry Stop). Run down towards the river and          head Nth past and around in front of the Power House. Cross the small park and out onto Lamington St then first right into          Hollins Crescent. Follow it around and take the first chance on your right to get back to the river. The river is on your right all          the way till you are forced to turn left onto Merthyr Rd. First right onto Macquarie St around the construction and first path          to the right back onto the river. (This detour will disappear when the building finishes). A great stretch of path along the river till a          left turn onto Commercial Rd and first left onto Skyring Tce. Follow it around the bend and turn first right into Longland St.          200Mts along and you have completed 10kms. Tap available to your right in front of the shop complex. (This spot is know as          GU Stop).

 

        At the end of Longland turn right into Anne St. First right into Waterloo St, left into Gordon St, right into Evelyn St. As you         veer left at the T section look for the footpath on your right beside the apartments which will take you back to the river. Left at         the river follow the path all the way around the front of  Newstead Park and up onto the Breakfast Bridge. 12kms. At         this point we retrace our steps around Newstead Park and back out onto Evelyn St. Follow it this time till you reach         Breakfast Creek Rd. (A Shell Service Station is available for a drink immediately in front of you.)

 

        Turn left and run to until you reach a roundabout where you will turn right into Montpelier Rd. At the top of a rise it becomes         Campbell St and goes over a railway line. 2nd left into Hamilton Pl then veer right into O'Connell Terrace. At the T turn right         into Bowen Bridge Rd opposite the Royal Children's Hospital. Last tap for a while available behind 2nd bus stop at the top         of the first rise. Over railway line first right into Gregory Tce. Tap available in park to right half way up hill. All the way to the top         and right into College Rd toward the Normanby 5 ways. At the 5 ways first right into Countess St and stick with it right         through to the river and cross the William Jolly Bridge.  Third left into Melbourne St and make your way back onto the river         path. It's easy from here. Follow the paths all the way through South Bank Parklands with the river immediately to your left.         Past the Goodwill Bridge around the Maritime Museum down the slope back onto the river and run out to the Red Man.         21kms !! Well Done.
